The wait is almost over. Warner Bros. has just dropped the first teaser and poster for Mortal Kombat II, igniting excitement ahead of the official trailer premiere. With an explosive dose of humor, action, and classic franchise flair, the studio is making one thing clear: Johnny Cage is ready to steal the spotlight.

New Poster Unleashes the Hype

Fans got their first taste of what’s to come with a newly unveiled poster. It features the iconic Mortal Kombat dragon logo, now glowing with eerie green energy. The visual confirms the movie’s October 24, 2025 release date, and also notes that it was shot specifically for IMAX—suggesting fans can expect a massive, immersive viewing experience when the Realms collide this fall.

Johnny Cage Gets the Star Treatment

Alongside the poster, Warner Bros. released a teaser that centers around Johnny Cage, the fan-favorite Hollywood martial artist. Played by Karl Urban, Cage takes center stage in a hilarious in-universe promo for his fictional action film, Uncaged Fury.

The teaser showcases Cage’s over-the-top personality, complete with explosions, sunglasses, and action-movie swagger. The studio even took the gag further by creating a fake IMDb page for Johnny Cage, loaded with tongue-in-cheek credits like:

  • Hard to Cage
  • Rebel Without a Cage
  • Cool Hand Cage

And yes, there’s even a poster for Uncaged Fury, showing Cage mid-explosion, surrounded by helicopters and attitude. It’s everything you’d expect from Mortal Kombat’s most egotistical warrior—and then some.

Trailer Premieres July 17 – “Kountdown” Begins

The official trailer for Mortal Kombat II will premiere on Wednesday, July 17 at 9:00 AM PT. But fans can jump into the action early with the “Trailer Event Kountdown,” a YouTube livestream starting at 8:05 AM PT. Expect exclusive content, cast clips, and behind-the-scenes surprises leading up to the full trailer reveal.

Warner Bros. is already teasing that “Realms will kollide”—a fitting tagline for a franchise built on interdimensional chaos, brutal combat, and legendary rivalries.

Adding to the excitement, series creator Ed Boon recently hinted that the sequel “nailed it.” Early test screenings reportedly drew comparisons to Avengers: Endgame in terms of audience reaction—a bold claim that’s only raising expectations.
